Yes it's that time of year when the eventing season ends, I have been lucky enough to end my season off on a fantasic high.
Blue has been back in full time work and we decided to take both him and Wally to Monmouth for a open100 run, Wally has had a great season after a freak accident earlier this year. He is now aimed at novice next year after finishing a confident year at open100 with a double clear finishing 15th. Blue surpassed everyones expectations after a very excitable dressage warm up to get a fab mark of 32.5 and stay on it after a double clear to finish 7th!! I also won a bottle of wine for a double clear, what a bonus! Mum got talking to Matt Ryan while I was showjumping, he commented on how genuine Blue was which was nice and Alex was there to help out in the SJ.
We finished the season at Broadway, Wally was having a early break after deciding to finish on a good note and bring him out to play in novices next year. We took Blue in the open100, it was a very challenging course the novice is normally very small and encouraging but they had moved alot of the novice fences into the BE100 classes. They were virtually no double clears finishing on dressage scores so I was over the moon to finish on my dressage score of 33!! Blue seems to be loving this dressage lark second time arround. Blue finished 6th, our best placing at BE100 level, after such a successful season I aim to event both boys novice next year, and compete in my first one star and get to wear top hat and tails for the very first time.
I am looking forward for the 2011 season and going to get the boys at their very best through the winter ready for next year. Keep warm through winter and will update you all soon :)
